I have received a few questions about how I go about making the podcast, so I decided to write up a quick post for you all.

Software:

Skype

I use this for audio chat between guests and me. It is the best bet because it’s free and multiplatform.

Audio Hijack Pro

This is the best way to record audio on Mac OS X. This allows me to record both my audio and the guests audio without running a live mixer.

AmadeusPro

While I have used Audacity and Garageband in the past, this is the only way I can slog through two and half hour episodes. It is fast and easy, so I didn’t mind spending the money.

Hardware:

Blue Snowball iCE

Blue mics are absolutely wonderful to use for podcasting. I have used them exclusively for years. This one is good for recording solo.
Price: $39.99

If you’re going to record, you’re going to need a quiet computer. I can’t even tell audibly when it is turned on. I also upgraded it to 16 GB of RAM. You should probably have at least 8 GB.
